Description

NGC2244 is the name of the open cluster located in the center of the H II region known as the Rosette Nebula, in Monoceros. NGC2237, NGC2238, NGC2239, and NGC2246 are parts of this region. Radiation emitted by stars in the cluster has caused the apparent hole in the center. It is a faint  and whidt object (1.3º in diameter).
